Pair of Buffet DG Clarinets
Clarinets Direct is fortunate to count many of the worlds' leading players amongst our clientele: One such is Nicholas Carpenter, who has made a name for himself as one of the leading players of his generation. Amongst many accolades, his recording of the Mozart Quintet was selected on Radio 3's CD review as the finest current recording. Nicholas has been a member of many orchestras, including the LPO, he is currently Principal Clarinet of the BBC Concert Orchestra.
These are a unique and excellent condition matched pair of Buffet DG clarinets. The DG, named after Buffet's chief designer of the 1990's, Daniel Gautier, was one of their finest designs ever: The tuning of the RH 12ths is unsurpassed by any model in their current line up. The bore is slightly smaller than the RC, and less undercut, and the instrument responds with a dark and powerful tone, uniform across the range. No surprise therefore that this model is played by many of the players in the UK's top orchestras. The Silver plate key work is excellent throughout. The unstained Grenadilla wood is pristine. The instruments have been completely re padded in Pisoni Premium Deluxe Tan Leather and all pads are in excellent condition. The Bb has matching serial nos. 371278, the A, 380243, which dates to 1994. The A has been custom modified by the well known Spanish luthier, Casto Dopico, please check out this link to his website, https://clarinetclinic.com. Both instruments feature adjustable thumb rests, and unstained hand selected Grenadilla wood, which is in pristine condition. There are 3 barrels, 66mm, 65mm, & 63mm. The BAM case is in very good condition.
